Wing Shooting
13 huntable species
New Zealand has a total of 13 huntable wing shooting species, with daily bag limits between 2 and 25 depending on the species.
Most Recent Trophies

Ducks, Swan & Merriam Turkey
Our primary wing shooting season runs from the opening weekend in May through July, with a limited early season available in March. Most hunters pursue the impressive paradise shelduck (commonly known as the paradise duck), a prized trophy often chosen for mounting. Opportunities to hunt black swan are also available in select areas. Duck hunting is over ponds and often dry fields with decoys, which is a unique way to hunt for many people outside of North America.
In addition to waterfowl, New Zealand offers excellent upland bird hunting. Merriam’s turkey hunting is available throughout the main hunting season, providing even more opportunities to customize your safari.
Wing Shooting in New Zealand
Our New Zealand wing shooting is designed as a unique sporting adventure rather than a high-volume shoot, making it ideal for collectors and hunters seeking an authentic and memorable experience. Combined with one of our big game hunts, it creates the perfect addition to a true New Zealand safari.
